Among its innovative features is the incorporation of a file transfer protocol based on the University of Minnesota's "gopher" (though we call it "groundhog") service. Using Compact Pro, you can segment a very large file into many smaller files, you can join segmented files, and you can add passwords and notes. Also, BinHex decode opens any file if OPTION key is pressed, BinHex decode ignores illegal characters in input file, and BinHex decode opens archives after decoding. Version 1.34 adds documentation updates and bug fixes. Version 1.35p supports “native” operation on Power Macintosh (versions with a “P” suffix will ONLY work on a Power Macintosh). It hides in the background and watches your keyboard activities. You can forget control panel conflict since FlashStars II is an application! In addition, it allows you to change the speed and sizes of stars, and it plays music, too. This version requires a PowerMac. Shareware. Name = FracPPC 1.0b1.sit Path = AMUG CD:Files:PowerMac:FracPPC 1.0b1.sit Size:100K Date: 6/09/94 Version: 1.0b1 Description: FracPPC 1.0b1 - This is the first beta version of FracPPC, which I hope to eventually develop into a full-featured fractal program. Even though some essential features are still missing, I wanted to make this available as soon as possible so that fractal fans with Power Macs can get a taste of the fractal exploration capabilities of the new machines. It only generates the Mandelbrot set, and the plots cannot be copied to the clipboard nor saved as PICT files. All of these features will be added in future versions. On the other hand, plots of any size, limited only by the memory allocated to the program, may be generated, and plots may be printed directly to color printers. Very fast! Requires a PowerMac! You fly around trying to freeze all of the ladybugs (by bumping into them). Beware, they will unfreeze each-other. The coolest part of this PowerMac only game is the graphics, the movement is beautiful! Features full texture mapped graphics. Will not work on a 68k mac! Name = Greg's Browser 2.2 PPC.sit Path = AMUG CD:Files:PowerMac:Greg's Browser 2.2 PPC.sit Size: 82K Date: 5/23/94 Version: 2.2 PPC Description: Greg's Browser 2.2 PPC - Greg's Browser is an interesting "finder replacement" stand alone application. When you open it, you are presented with a scrolling list of all folders and applications (like if you could view your desktop by name). Click on the hard drive's name, and in the next column over appears all the folders and applications on the hard drive (like in view by name). You can launch programs, open folders to show a list view in the next column to the right, throw things away, and put icons in a special place for quick access. You can also have invisible files show. Plus, most of the functions can be run through the keyboard! Requires a PowerMac!! Name = JPEG Convert 1.0 PPC.sit Path = AMUG CD:Files:PowerMac:JPEG Convert 1.0 PPC.sit Size: 87K Date: 5/30/94 Version: 1.0 PPC Description: JPEG Convert 1.0 PPC - JPEG Convert is an application designed to convert images to and from JPEG format using the Independent JPEG Group's JPEG software. This version of JPEG Convert uses version 4a of the Independent JPEG Group's software. This file contains a PowerPC-only version of the application. Versions compiled for use on 68000 machines for 68020 and 68881 processors are available elsewhere. NOTE - JPEG conversion is fairly memory intensive (especially with large images). While the Independent JPEG Group's software handles memory fairly well, raising the application's memory (with Get Info from the finder) is usually appropriate. Included are spec sheets, all about PowerMac upgrades, video support, scsi manager 4.3 problems, Adobe Photoshop on the PPC, and conclusions. This smaller version does not contain any pictures. It’s late in the 21st century, and frogs are endangered species! Their only hope of survival is to eat the mutant bugs filling the skies, but not every bug is the same and some have mutated into forms that only certain frogs can eat. It’s your job as the player to make sure each frog eats the right bugs - but watch out, because if you don’t eat fast enough your frog family may not make it! Bullfrog Math II teaches the sequence of integers and whole numbers on the integer number line. If you've resorted to learning qualitative analysis by putting your book under your pillow or just banging your head on a desk, this game is for you! Maybe you understand all the chemistry behind qualitative analysis, but your head still swims when you try to pick which reagent to use on a methyl ketone? This game will get you up to warp speed in no time. Automatic feedback loops focus on reagents you have trouble with, and you can get a statistical report on your progress at any time during game play. You'll need the Bullfrog Foundation. PPC only. Bullfrog Chemistry I uses the same fast-paced interactive animation scenario as seen in the Bullfrog math games. As in the math games automatic feedback loops focus on those problem ions you just can't remember, and make sure you learn all the ions you select to study - and you can get a statistical report on your progress at any time during the game. If you didn't think you'd ever WANT to study ion formulae all day, be prepared for a surprise with this one! You'll need the Bullfrog Foundation to use this file. To install a module, which is downloaded separately, double click on the module, then point to the foundation. Then you'll be able to play and learn. Look for Bullfrog Math I, II and III, and Bullfrog Chemistry I and II. This is the PowerMac version only, look for the regular Mac versions in the Commercial Demo area. It's a line number based BASIC interpreter similar to the Applesoft BASIC that came with the Apple ][+ (that's Apple ][, NOT Mac II for you newcomers). This version runs ONLY on Power Macs. Chipmunk Basic is a simple Basic interpreter for the Macintosh. It is similar to the line number based MumbleSoft BASIC interpreters of circa 1980. Its roots are from a pascal program, basic.p, that was part of the test input suite to p2c, a pascal to c translator. Runs only on a Power Mac. How often do you wish that items like “Restart” and “Empty Trash” had command keys? For those of you who do not know what command keys are, they are the letters after a menu item. When these letters are selected on the keyboard, in tandem with the command key, they provide the same reaction as when you select an item from the “File” menu for instance. If you do not currently use command keys, learn to use them because, they save time and are very cool! The fractals in this program are the result of pseudo code taken from Scientific American. It creates fractals using either Mandelbrot, Julia, Dragon, or Random Walk algorithms. The Mandelbrot and Julia fractals are the fractals that most people have seen previously. The Dragon fractal family is very similar to both Mandelbrot and Julia families. In these fractals, the screen is a complex coordinate grid. Find out more in the docs. This version requires a PowerMac.
